The Minister of Arts and Culture is personally represented at the TOKNA MASSANA Festival by the Secretary General; Prof. NKENE JACQUES BLAISE.

Today April 10, 2026 saw the opening ceremony of the 10th edition of this festival at Mayotte Kebbi East Province Bongor Chad.

Placed under the distinguished patronage of the Maréchel of Tchad, President of the Republic Head of State, this edition has as theme: Promote and protect the Massa heritage; a cultural and economic challenge.

The Tokna Massana festival is a cultural festival celebrated by the Massa community in the Far North region of Cameroon and the Massa community in Chad. This brings another common ground between the two countries which recently celebrated the inscription of the GURUNA cultural element in New Delhi India last December.

The Massa communities through this festival express and showcase not just the “Guruna giant” which was an innovation this year, but also their culinary arts, crafts, dances, cultural displays, cultural fair etc.

The SG of Minac, representing the Minister appreciated the organization and expressed the commitment of the Minister of Arts and Culture in accompanying cultural initiatives, while working towards more inscriptions.

The opening ceremony presided over by the Prime Minister of Chad, representing the President, had the presence of members of government from Cameroon and Chad, traditional authorities and other dignitaries.

The festival is scheduled to run from 7-11 April 2026.
